St James Park

A great place to make your home

It's amazing how many people, when they pay their first visit to St James Park, are totally overwhelmed by the sense of calmness and serenity that surrounds this private development within a glorious sylvan setting.

Originally built in the late nineteen twenties, St James Park incorporates four 4-storey buildings: Redmires, Kielder, Melmerby and Carthorpe Arch; plus two separate, smaller buildings: Ellishaw and Wearhead.

Each building is a self-contained unit which includes one, two and some three bedroom apartments. All the properties are privately owned and are in the main owner-occupied, or, in some instances have been bought as an investment to let.

The buildings themselves have all been constructed using the traditional materials and methods of the twenties and thirties, and are all extremely substantial and structurally sound. All the buildings have been tastefully modernised and an on-going programme of maintenance and improvement ensures that the exterior fabric and appearance of the properties is sustained at the highest level.

The interiors of the apartments are, of course, the responsibility of the individual owners, however, there is a strictly imposed code that ensures all properties adhere to agreed and acceptable standards externally.

A glorious garden setting

St James Park occupies a private X acre parkland setting which is securely protected by ornate walls and attractive palisade fencing, plus the latest electronically controlled gates and security systems.

With lots of mature trees, well-tended lawns and gardens, plus delightfully meandering pathways and a host of hidden picnic areas, the park provides a haven of tranquillity, welcome birdlife and secure peace of mind for residents.

Well-managed and maintained

The high standards associated with St James Park are supervised by the property owners themselves through a self-regulated management company and a democratically elected Board of Directors who oversee all the routine maintenance, plus any necessary repairs, improvements and security arrangements, etc.
